She's finally in a town long enough to almost snag the boy of her dreams, until her life is threatened by a fanged man in his attempt to kidnap her. Brooke begins a dangerous journey to find out who is after her and how to stop them. Thrown into a world with powerful and prejudiced vampires, Brooke must tap into the side of herself that she never knew existed, at the risk of losing her life in order to save it.

Review
Brooke is a girl who has never tasted love or a friendship because his mother, with whom she lives, has not stopped moving from state to state until now.

Happiness comes at last when it seems that her mother agrees to stay in one place longer and Brooke experiencing what every normal teenager, a friend who becomes her closest confidante and best friend, Kaitlynn, and a handsome boy that fill her hours with love, Jaren.

All is happines until Brooke slowly realizes that someone is following her and one day this guy tries to take her by force. In that moment Brooke shows a unknowning supernatural force.

From that moment her life changes radically and starts an adventure.
She has to keep loved ones safe while the vampires, called Pijawikas, go after her and can harm the people around her.

I loved the way the writer has been showing each of the characters. It makes you part of Brooke's life and you become attached to them.

Also I have to add that this is one of the few times I do not hate any character. All have something special, good or bad...

My favorite character is Mirko, handsome and arrogant. I would fall in love with him in real life if he was real.

The central plot revolves around Brooke and her friends survival and is mixed from time to time throughout the book with scenes that leave a rich smell of love.

This is a book I recommend to anyone who loves the young adult books. It is entertaining, easy to read and you will be hook until the end.
It has the notes of love that many of us like mixed with an aura of intrigue interspersed with lots of action.

Something negative? I do not like so much the cover. Keep a little book style vampires but it does not draw attention from the bookstore shelf (in my opinion). I will wait to see the cover of the second book to see if it gives better vibration.

I would like this book in Spain. In this manner many of spanish readers will can enjoy it!!!

The best: everything.
The worst: book with an open ending that will make us wait for more adventures of Brooke until the next delivery :-( .

Waiting On Wednesday #3: The Pheasant Killers

Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine where we can show the books we are eagerly awaiting released.

Book (english title)The Pheasant Killers
Author: Jussi Adler-Olsen
Series: Serie Q #2

Expected publication (Spain): September 2011

Sypnosis: In 1987, a brother and sister are found brutally murdered in a summer house in the north of Denmark. The police investigation suggests that the killer is to be found within a group of young boarding-school pupils coming from some of the wealthiest families in the country. But the evidence is not strong enough and the case is shelved.

However; several years later the case and its files turn up on the desk of Carl Mørck, the deputy detective superintendent who is in charge of Department Q - the department for "cases of special focus". At first, Carl Mørck is convinced that it is there by mistake, but soon he realizes that something is very, very wrong.
Along with his assistant Assad he takes on an investigation that brings them all the way through the hierarchy of society. From the most miserable homeless person living at Central Station to the most powerful men at the top. The hunt is on.

I love this writer and the series mystery books "Serie Q", the problem is the writer is from Copenhagen and his books are not translated yet to english (only the first one) so September will be a date to buy the second book on the series in Spain due I do not know when it will be release in english but the spanish publisher Maeva will release it in this month.

I cannot wait for read it because I love thrillers and this is kind special to me!!

The Collective, as they’re called, rule the universe.

Two-thousand-year-old Ricardo Sanchez, vampire and rogue pilot of the space cruiser, El Cazador, can’t resist two things: gorgeous women and impossible jobs. When beautiful Skylar Rossaria approaches him to break a prisoner out of the Collective’s maximum security prison on Trakis One, Rico jumps at the chance. Being hunted by the Collective has never been so dangerous–or so fun!

Review
A sexy, good-looking, adventurous vampire called Ricardo is the main character of this amazing book that makes your imagination works quickly and with pleasure to be a part of the crew of the space cruiser, "El cazador", in which Ricardo is a pilot.

I love the writen style of Nina Croft, this is the first book that I read from her and I was amazed at the letters. I could read without problems and it was a pleasure to fell in her created universe.

She present our characters with a clear and precise description and there are not so many of them so know everyone is a easy task and not a confused thing.

On the one hand we have Tannis, the captain of El cazador that was genetically modified, and her crew Ricardo, Al, Daisy, Janey and Trog.
On the other hand it shows us Skylar a beautiful woman with some secrets that wants to contract the crew to break a prisoner from a maximum security prison.

Despite the lack of action the novel is full of feelings and sexual thoughts and acts that will make you want to know more about the characters. Also you can have fun with some situations.

I would like to know more about the Collective and the church. How will finish the struggle for the immortality? How many missions will have our womanizer?

Folklore has it that the fourth finger of the left hand has a vein leading directly to the heart. The ring was supposed to symbolize eternal love.

Review
Some actors
Today I will talk a bit about the comic "Falling skies" base on the summer tv series with the same name in which you can see a world where the aliens have come to the earth and not in peace.

When I saw that you could ask on NetGalley to read the eComic I did not hesitate it because  at that moment I had been metally captured for the first three episodes of the Tv series where Tom, a resident of Boston, has to struggle to survive and protect his three sons.

The comic is a prequel to the Tv series and shows how some of the characters that are part of the militia have come to this.

I wish they had explained how the aliens came to earth and began to kill people as well as why they abduct young children. I guess I will not be displayed at any time how it all started but I hope at least to find out why the skitters and mechs (two aliens species) put on the spine of children a kind of nasty bug-alien.

Tom and Anne
About the characterization I have to say I love how the artist has captured the real actors in the frames. They are very similiar to real life! and I think this is an amazing work!

In short, a comic that despited the lack of explanations for the arrival of the aliens, deservers to be read. A simple writing and bearable plus the story told from the viewpoint of our hero Tom will make you want to know if they will survive and reach their goals or die trying...

It reminds me a little to the comic "Walking dead" but without so much blood through though with dead bodies....
